Lewis Burton, the former partner of the late Caroline Flack, has publicly addressed what he calls “false accusations” presented in a recently released documentary detailing the presenter’s final days. The documentary, now available, aims to shed new light on the events surrounding Flack’s tragic death.
The film focuses on the 24 hours leading up to Flack’s passing, incorporating previously unheard voice notes and WhatsApp messages shared with loved ones. Caroline Flack’s mother, Christine, participated in the project, hoping to clarify the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death and challenge existing narratives.
Burton, who was in a relationship with Flack at the time of her death, expressed his distress over the documentary’s portrayal of events. He stated on social media that the level of false claims and subsequent online abuse directed towards him and his family had become unbearable, forcing him to consider speaking out.
While Burton declined to be interviewed for the documentary, filmmakers confirmed they repeatedly reached out to him, both for background research and for an on-camera appearance. They sought to understand his perspective, but he ultimately chose not to participate.
The events that triggered the intense scrutiny began on December 12, 2019, when Flack struck Burton with a phone while he slept, after discovering messages from another woman. The incident escalated into a destructive outburst, involving broken objects and self-harm, witnessed by Burton.
This alcohol-fueled incident led to charges of assault, igniting a relentless media storm. The ensuing legal battle and public condemnation continued for two months, culminating in Flack’s death on February 15, 2020, at the age of 40.
Since Flack’s death, Burton has moved on and built a life with Lottie Tomlinson, the younger sister of Louis Tomlinson. The couple, who began dating in July 2020, now share two children together: Lucky and Flossie.
Burton has yet to detail the specific inaccuracies he objects to in the documentary, or how he intends to present his side of the story. However, his statement signals a determination to address what he believes is a misrepresentation of the truth.
