Liverpool Pursue £80m Transfer of Highly Regarded Player

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has emerged as a key figure in convincing Alex Scott to join the Reds this summer.

Scott has attracted interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United, after helping Bournemouth secure a brilliant sixth-place finish last season to qualify for Europe for the first time.

The 22-year-old midfielder has two years left on his contract at Bournemouth, but has reportedly turned down a new contract from the club.

Despite strong interest from other clubs, former Liverpool player Vladimir Smicer believes the Reds should enter the race to sign Scott this summer.

Smicer thinks that Iraola's knowledge of Scott from their time together at Bournemouth could be instrumental in convincing the midfielder to join Liverpool.

‘I think you can expect Andoni Iraola would like to take Alex Scott because he knows what he can do,‘ Smicer said.

‘We need a bit more spark in midfield with people who are fighting but are clever going forward, turning quickly with the ball and finding strikers. Iraola knows Alex Scott. If the price is right and he sees the possibility to strengthen the team, why not?’

Smicer also believes that Scott would be a great asset to Liverpool's midfield, citing his youth, Premier League experience, and regular appearances for the England youth teams.

‘He's a good prospect and Premier League proven. These things are important. I don't know if he would love to play for Liverpool, but not many players would turn them down.‘

With Liverpool also linked with signings in forward areas and potentially at centre-back, the Reds may be looking to strengthen their squad this summer.
