A Democratic candidate in a highly contested 2026 House race has drawn attention for following a range of Instagram accounts, including several that post explicit content and self-described witches.
The campaign’s official Instagram profile reportedly followed twelve accounts that regularly shared sexually explicit material, such as images of sex toys and other adult content.
In addition, the account followed several profiles run by individuals who identify as witches, offering followers “beginner tips” on practices like “Eden Energy Medicine” and “Crystal Spirit Readings.”
After the activity was brought to light, the campaign removed some of these follows, indicating a response to public scrutiny.
Among the accounts the profile followed was that of a transgender socialist activist who often posts images in BDSM gear, featuring leather and chains over a bare chest.
The account also maintained follows with at least two creators who publish content on a subscription-based platform known for adult material.
The candidate has previously faced controversy over a video in which she advocated for the legalization of prostitution.
During a 2020 campaign for state office, she stated her intention to fight for the decriminalization of sex work, citing the need to support trans individuals, particularly trans women of color, against pervasive employment discrimination.
The district’s race is considered a toss-up, meaning neither party holds a clear advantage as the election approaches.
With the outcome of this seat potentially influencing control of Congress, the social media decisions of the candidate add a new layer to the already complex political landscape.
