Australia launches EQUIP aid to strengthen emergency response

Australia announced a five‑year, 1.6‑billion‑peso investment to strengthen job‑ready skills among senior high school students in the Philippines. The funding will support curriculum enhancements and skill‑development programs across the country.

The Education Quality for Inclusive Prosperity program, launched in Manila, aims to align classroom instruction with labor market demands. It will focus on sectors identified as high growth and high employment potential.

Key elements include expanded workplace training, hands‑on experience, and nationally recognized certifications. These measures seek to provide students with practical skills that employers seek.

Australian Foreign Minister Penelope Ying‑Yen Wong introduced the initiative during a visit to Manila. The program reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen educational collaboration between the two nations.
