Woman Dies in Boston Home Owned by Rep. Ayanna Pressley

Police in Boston declared the death of an 18‑year‑old woman a homicide after finding her with a gunshot wound in a Mattapan home on July 18.

The incident occurred around 1:52 p.m. when officers responded to a shooting report. Yoseliani Ann Marte Ocasio was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death as homicide.

The house where the body was discovered is owned by Conan Harris, the spouse of a congresswoman. Investigators have found no link between the property’s ownership and the fatal shooting.

The victim’s mother, Elenie Ocasio, publicly condemned the attacker, saying, “This coward killed my baby. He put a gun to her head, took my baby in that house and left her to die.” She added that her daughter did not deserve this.

She vowed that everything would come out and that justice would ultimately be served.

A congresswoman issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the loss of Yoseliani Marte, saying, “I am devastated about the death of Yoseliani Marte, an 18‑year‑old with so many dreams ahead of her, her life cut short by domestic violence.” She added that she and her family were not involved.

The statement also highlighted the need for community support and compassion for the victim’s loved ones. It called for honoring the victim’s life and humanity during the grieving process.
