Senator Ruben Gallego declined to comment on a recent report, stating repeatedly that he would not engage in gossip when asked whether the claims were accurate.
Separately, Gallego is facing a federal probe into alleged campaign finance violations. Investigators are examining whether he used campaign funds for personal expenses.
The expenses under scrutiny include luxury outings, family vacations to Disney World, child care, and Super Bowl tickets. A person familiar with the spending described the senator’s campaign account as a personal slush fund used to support a luxury lifestyle.

The investigation is reportedly based on a whistleblower complaint originating in California. The Department of Justice is reviewing potential violations of federal campaign finance law.
The scrutiny follows the Senate’s decision to close a separate sexual misconduct inquiry involving the senator. Federal authorities are now focused on the financial misconduct allegations.
