UK Prepares to Defend Against Iran's Threats to RAF Base

The Ministry of Defence issued a statement warning that any support for military aggression against Iran would carry responsibility for the consequences and repercussions of that decision.

A defense spokesperson emphasized that the United Kingdom’s armed forces are prepared to defend the nation 24/7, employing a layered air and missile defence system that involves the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, in close cooperation with NATO allies.

The UK maintains that its approach to the conflict remains focused on protecting its people, interests and allies, acting within international law and avoiding broader entanglement.

In response to Iran’s recent remarks, the UK government has designated Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a threat to national security.

Earlier this year, the country faced domestic security incidents, including arson attacks and a double stabbing, prompting heightened vigilance.

U.S. Central Command announced the 13th night of strikes on Iran, targeting military command centres, drone storage facilities, communication networks, coastal surveillance sites and maritime capabilities to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten civilian shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Despite these attacks, the Strait of Hormuz remains open for transit, according to the U.S. military.

The United States has announced plans to hold Iran accountable for attacks on shipping by Yemen’s Houthi rebels and to seize Iranian assets to cover damages.

Iran’s foreign minister warned that such actions would lead to instability and that no assets would remain safe under a normalized confiscation regime.

The international community continues to monitor developments, with defensive posturing and diplomatic efforts shaping the evolving security landscape.
