U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance announced the birth of their fourth child, expanding their household to six members.
The family shared a recent portrait featuring the newborn, Alec Neel Vance, alongside the three older children—sons Ewan and Vivek and daughter Mirabel—captured while the family posed on a couch.
Alec was born on July 19, marking the first instance in more than 150 years that a child has been born to a sitting U.S. second lady; the previous occurrence was in 1870 during the vice presidency of Schuyler Colfax.

In a statement, Vice President Vance confirmed that both mother and baby are healthy and that the older siblings are enthusiastic about welcoming their new brother.
Former President Donald Trump extended congratulations, describing the newborn as a “perfect baby boy” for the Vance family.
