A newspaper in Whitesburg, Kentucky, has drawn national attention after publishing two explicit death threats against former President Donald Trump, members of his administration, and his supporters in its “Speak Your Piece” reader‑submission section.
The Mountain Eagle, a local weekly, allows anonymous comments in the “Speak Your Piece” column. In the latest edition, two submissions called for violent actions, including execution and burial of Trump and his officials.
The first comment urged readers to “get that Nazi p*dophile traitor out of office and take his entire corrupt administration with him,” adding that they should be “put ten feet deep in concrete” and that the remaining “cultists” should be hunted down.
The second submission criticized Trump for allegedly planning to place “Gestapo agents” at polling places and then called for the deaths of federal agents, stating that “no argument, no discussion, just put them down” and suggesting the body count be doubled if they appear at polling locations.
Legal experts note that threats of violence are not protected speech under the First Amendment and must be reported to law‑enforcement authorities.
Federal agencies, including the FBI and Secret Service, are expected to investigate the origins of the threats and determine whether any criminal statutes have been violated.
