In a statement, the spokesperson identified the video as a Chinese production and emphasized that the “white people” referenced in the discussion were unrelated. He expressed surprise that the senator had shifted blame toward him.
The senator had connected the video to a caricature he presented during a university lecture, but the spokesperson clarified that the image was meant as academic satire and was never intended for public release or propaganda.
Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. condemned the video, describing it as a reflection of the Chinese Communist Party’s dehumanizing view of Filipinos. He cited the depiction as evidence of moral and intellectual bankruptcy and said it reinforced the decision to suspend high‑level and armed forces engagements with Chinese entities.
Lawmakers, including party‑list representatives, denounced the video as racist propaganda designed to undermine the Philippines’ sovereign rights. They also called for an independent foreign policy free from Chinese and American influence, noting parallels to colonial‑era depictions.
The Chinese foreign ministry denied that the video was produced by the Chinese government.
