Kamala Harris supports Senate candidate replacing Graham

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has endorsed Troy Jackson, the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate seat in Maine.

Harris emphasized the compressed campaign schedule, noting that Jackson will have just 101 days between his nomination and the November 3 election.

Jackson, a former state senator who previously ran in the Democratic gubernatorial primary, secured the Senate nomination at the Maine Democratic Party’s convention.

He will challenge long‑standing Republican incumbent Senator Susan Collins, who has represented Maine since 1997, in the upcoming general election.

Earlier in the year, Graham Platner, who had won the Democratic primary for the 2026 Senate race, withdrew after a rape allegation that he denied.

Harris communicated her support in a fundraising email that highlighted the urgency of the campaign timeline.

Collins’ campaign responded, stating that Harris understands the pressures of a short‑run election campaign.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee criticized the endorsement, suggesting it bypasses the role of primary voters.
