A heartwarming moment captured on video has gone viral, showing a good Samaritan in a Spider-Man costume leaping out of his vehicle to help a man in a wheelchair cross a busy intersection in Arkansas.
The incident was filmed by traffic cameras on Tuesday after the good Samaritan, identified as 20-year-old Christopher Hellenthal, clocked out of work at a trampoline park in Jonesboro.
Hellenthal said he was simply driving around town in his Spider-Man costume after work when he noticed a man in a wheelchair struggling to make it across the intersection.
Without hesitation, Hellenthal sprang into action, helping the man to a safe spot and making sure he reached his destination safely, all while his adrenaline was pumping.
"I would have done it with or without the suit," Hellenthal said of his heroic act, revealing that he's a lifelong fan of Spider-Man and even had the chance to meet the character's co-creator, the late Stan Lee.
Hellenthal's selfless act was praised by the Jonesboro Police Department, who shared the moment on their Facebook page and referred to him as a "true superhero." The police department's spokesperson said it was a unique moment she had never witnessed in her seven years of service.
A manager at the trampoline park where Hellenthal works said it's "very much like him to do something like that and very much like him to be still in costume," highlighting Hellenthal's kind and heroic nature.
