During the brief hearing, Brand formally entered not guilty pleas to both the rape and sexual assault charges. The total number of charges Brand now faces has risen to seven: three counts of rape, three of sexual assault, and one of indecent assault. These allegations first surfaced in September 2023, prompting a detailed investigation by detectives following reports from multiple alleged victims.
Initial reports from Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times detailed alleged offenses spanning from the late 1990s through the early 2000s. Brand has consistently maintained his innocence, characterizing past encounters as consensual and vehemently denying any acts of rape.
In previous statements, Brand described a period of youthful recklessness, admitting to struggles with addiction and poor judgment. He acknowledged a past life filled with “foolishness” before finding faith, but firmly asserted, “I have never engaged in non-consensual activity.”
