A quiet Sunday afternoon commute on a Virginia highway dissolved into unimaginable horror as a road rage incident escalated into a brutal attack, leaving one woman and a family dog dead, and several others critically wounded.
The perpetrator, identified as 32-year-old Jared Llamado of McLean, Virginia, was later revealed to be a Foreign Service Officer – a detail that added a chilling layer to the unfolding tragedy. The State Department confirmed their awareness of the incident, extending condolences to those irrevocably touched by the violence.
The chaos began with a traffic collision on I-495 southbound, approximately 30 minutes from Washington, D.C., at 1:20 p.m. What initially appeared to be a simple property damage crash quickly spiraled into something far more sinister.
Dispatch audio paints a terrifying picture: a suspect, fueled by rage, began indiscriminately stabbing people. Multiple victims were reported strewn across the roadway, creating a scene of utter devastation.
Michelle Adams, 39, tragically succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Dana Bonnell, 36, Mary C. Flood, 37, and Heather Miller, 40, were also stabbed and rushed to hospitals with serious wounds. A beloved family dog was also killed in the attack, adding to the profound sense of loss.
