MOTHER'S HORROR: She Fled a Deadly Crash – Now Faces LIFE Behind Bars!

A quiet residential street became the scene of unimaginable tragedy when a car collided with an e-scooter, claiming the lives of two young siblings. Nine-year-old Darcie and her sixteen-year-old brother, Roman, died instantly, leaving a community shattered and a family devastated.

The incident unfolded as the children approached an intersection. Witnesses described the driver of the car attempting to avoid a collision, but tragically, contact was made, resulting in catastrophic injuries for both siblings riding the e-scooter.

Instead of stopping to offer assistance, the driver, later identified as Ziobryte, continued on, a decision that would weigh heavily on the unfolding investigation. She reportedly made numerous calls to family members, but crucially, not to the police or emergency services.

Roman Casselden and his sister Darcie, who died in an e-scooter crash with a car.

The court heard that Ziobryte did not return to the scene of the accident, leaving investigators to piece together the events. She had no prior criminal record, adding another layer of complexity to the heartbreaking case.

Initial inquiries led police to consider charges of causing death by dangerous driving, but those were later dropped. The focus shifted to understanding the full circumstances surrounding the decision to leave the scene.

During a court appearance, Ziobryte’s legal representative requested an adjournment to prepare pre-sentence reports, revealing that she is currently pregnant. The magistrate, Paul Fisher, granted bail, setting the sentencing date for May 6th.

However, the magistrate issued a stark warning: a prison sentence remained a distinct possibility. The gravity of the situation was palpable, acknowledging the profound loss and the questions that needed answering.

Inquests into the deaths of Roman and Darcie confirmed the devastating cause of death: traumatic head injuries. The coroner detailed how the siblings were traveling on the e-scooter when it collided with a car traveling along Ashlyns Road.

Emergency services arrived swiftly, but despite their best efforts, Darcie was pronounced dead at 7:10 pm, followed by Roman at 7:50 pm. The investigation continues to determine the precise details leading to this horrific outcome.

Their mother, Emma, released a poignant statement through the police, expressing the enduring love and spirit of her children. “Their love, kindness and spirit live on in the hearts of all who knew them,” she shared, a testament to the lives tragically cut short.
