Canada’s Wonderland marked its 45th anniversary this year, reaching a cumulative total of one billion riders since opening in 1981.
During a Thursday visit, a family of four from Kingston was announced as the milestone guests when the park’s public address system declared their daughter, Annabelle, the one‑billionth rider while she waited in line for the Thunder Run coaster.
The park’s president greeted the family, presented complimentary tickets for a future visit, Fast Lane Plus vouchers, and branded merchandise, emphasizing the significance of the achievement for the park’s history.
Thunder Run, a mine‑train‑styled coaster that traverses the interior of Wonder Mountain, was the ride on which the milestone occurred. The attraction, which debuted in 1986, has accommodated roughly 36.6 million riders to date.
Dragon Fyre holds the record as the most‑ridden coaster at the park, with an estimated 45.7 million riders since its introduction, surpassing all other attractions in cumulative attendance.
In the 2025 season, the park’s flagship coasters—Behemoth, Leviathan, and Yukon Striker—recorded the highest single‑season patronage, attracting 1.35 million, 1.48 million, and 1.28 million riders respectively.
Since its opening with 30 rides, including classics such as the Mighty Canadian Minebuster and the Wilde Beast, Canada’s Wonderland now offers more than 200 attractions, featuring 18 roller coasters, two dedicated children’s zones, and the Splash Works water park.
Park officials anticipate continued growth, citing ongoing investments in new experiences and a commitment to maintaining the venue as a premier family entertainment destination for future generations.
