Venezuela Earthquakes Leave Survivors with Nowhere to Turn

Domingo Luciani Hospital in Caracas, Venezuela - In a heartbreaking story, Astrid Méndez found herself caught in the midst of Venezuela's devastating earthquakes that occurred on June 24th. The tragic incident led to the tragic loss of her 62-year-old mother, Yaremis, whose life was cut short while they were in their home in La Guaira.

As the family returned home after working at their food stand on the beach, the terrifying sound of the earthquakes caused panic, leading them to rush to the kitchen. The building, tragically, began to collapse around them, causing fear and uncertainty to grip the family.

Realizing her mother was still with her, Astrid tried to remain calm as the hours dragged on. However, she could not avoid the devastating realization that her mother had succumbed to her injuries.

Recalling her mother as a cheerful woman who cherished her entire family, Méndez is determined to recover and visit her mother's resting place in order to say her final goodbyes. However, her current injuries prevent her from boarding any transportation or traveling to her hometown.
