Thomas Tuchel faces England World Cup conundrum over Arsenal star's

Thomas Tuchel is under pressure to decide on the inclusion of Declan Rice in the England team for the World Cup semi-final against Argentina. Former England full-back Stephen Warnock believes the Arsenal star may not be the best option in midfield, despite being expected to be available for selection.

Warnock suggests that Kobbie Mainoo, a Manchester United midfielder who has yet to make an appearance at the World Cup, would be a better choice. Mainoo's attacking threat from deep could provide an added dimension to the team's midfield.

Tuchel's decision to withdraw Rice at half-time against Norway was partly due to the midfielder's ongoing illness, which had been affecting him for three days. Warnock believes that Mainoo would be a more progressive option, capable of playing on the edge in big games.

Mainoo has not been involved in the World Cup so far, after being left out of Tuchel's starting lineup. The Manchester United star played in the two friendlies before the tournament, but has not been trusted by Tuchel since then.

Tuchel explained that Rice's half-time substitution was partly tactical, but also due to the midfielder's poor physical condition. The manager opted for a more offensive approach, bringing on Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka, and replacing Rice with Elliot Anderson.

Warnock's comments suggest that Tuchel may be considering a change in his midfield selection, but it remains to be seen whether Mainoo will be given the opportunity to make his World Cup debut.
