A California man, accused of stealing jewelry, is back behind bars less than 24 hours after walking out of jail. Authorities claim he allegedly committed the same type of crime while already on pretrial probation.
Andre Wiley, 19, was arrested last week after detectives from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said he teamed up with two other men in an alleged jewelry store theft just hours after being released from the Placer County Jail on his own recognizance.
Wiley and his alleged accomplices, both 18 years old, entered a local jewelry store together. Authorities claim they distracted employees by browsing merchandise while Wiley sat at a consultation desk and stole two pieces of jewelry before the trio fled.
Surveillance video released by authorities appears to show the entire alleged theft unfold, from the trio casually entering the store and walking around inside to their sudden dash out the door moments later.
Deputies located the suspects' vehicle, leading to their arrests and the recovery of the stolen items. Wiley was discovered to be on pretrial probation for burglary, conspiracy, and grand theft charges, the same offenses he is now accused of committing again.
Wiley, along with his accomplices Andrew Ivy and Kameryus Mayhand, were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, and grand theft.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office released the suspects' booking photos because detectives believe they may be connected to additional thefts. Anyone who recognizes the suspects or believes they may have been victimized is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 916-874-5115.
