President Donald Trump honored the memory of four U.S. service members who were killed in action in Jordan and Iraq during a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Wednesday.
Trump stood alongside Secretary of War Pete Hegseth as they paid tribute to 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, Sgt. Angel Rampersad, Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, and Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, who lost their lives in separate incidents.
Trump described the service members as "great heroes" and acknowledged the difficulty of attending the ceremony, stating that it is one of the hardest things to do as a president.
The service members were killed in action over the weekend, with 1st Lt. Feehan, Sgt. Rampersad, and Pvt. Gonzales dying in Jordan while defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, and Sgt. Swinton being killed in Iraq while troops attempted to destroy a downed Iranian attack drone.
Feehan's parents, Stephen and Shari, have established a scholarship in his name to honor his legacy and provide educational opportunities for those who serve or hope to serve.
The incidents remain under investigation, and the families of the fallen service members have expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support and condolences from the public.
