Police and military units are standing by to secure the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s first parliamentary elections scheduled for September 14.
The Commission on Elections has produced 2.3 million ballots, covering five provinces and three cities within the region.
Security teams from the Police Regional Office and the Western Mindanao Command have worked with local officials and religious leaders to address clan disputes in preparation for the vote.
Despite these efforts, at least 27 areas in Bangsamoro remain classified as high risk because of a history of election-related violence.
