Rebel Wilson has been cleared of defamation claims after a court decision dismissed the lawsuit filed by actress Charlotte MacInnes.
MacInnes alleged that Wilson's Instagram posts in 2024 and 2025 damaged her reputation by suggesting she had withdrawn a sexual‑harassment complaint against a film producer.
The dispute arose after the release of The Deb, a musical comedy written and directed by Wilson in which MacInnes played a leading role.
During the trial, Wilson argued that the posts did not constitute defamation and that MacInnes had failed to demonstrate any serious harm.
Judge Elizabeth Raper ruled that the implication of a changed story was not defamatory and ordered MacInnes to pay Wilson's legal costs.
The case also involved an incident at Bondi Beach in September 2023, when MacInnes and producer Amanda Ghost were in a bathtub together, leading to a series of texts exchanged between Wilson and Ghost.
Wilson maintained that the texts were intended to preserve professional communication and denied any smear campaign.
Following the verdict, Wilson expressed relief and a desire to focus on her family and future projects.
