Coy "Denver" Parton, Dolly Parton's older brother, dies at 82

Dolly Parton’s brother, Coy “Denver” Parton, died on Thursday, July 23 at the age of 82.

The 82‑year‑old, who had lived a life far removed from his sister’s fame, was a crane operator, bridge builder, homestead farmer, and avid hunter.

He was one of twelve children born to Avie Lee Owens Parton and Robert Lee Parton, and the fifth sibling of the celebrated singer to pass away.

Earlier deaths in the family include brothers Larry, David, Randy, and Floyd, all of whom had predeceased him.

Denver was a widower after the death of his wife, Carolyn Parton, and the cause of his death was not disclosed.

He is survived by two daughters, Chris and Jennifer, a grandson named Ian, and seven sisters: Willadeene Buzzeo, Dolly, Stella, Cassie, Freida, Rachel, and Laura.
