The president has been given a second chance to revise his $15 billion defamation lawsuit against the New York Times after a federal judge in Florida declined to toss the case out.
US District Judge Steven Merryday ruled that Trump's lawyer has until August 27 to file an amended complaint, allowing the lawyer to clear up potential deficiencies in the original suit.
The New York Times will then have three weeks to file a "succinct" response, the judge said, following the revised complaint.
Trump has vowed to "lay out, in extreme detail" numerous offenses in the amended complaint, which he claims will expose the Times' "actual malice" in defaming him, his family, and the MAGA movement.
The president has accused the Times of publishing "fake news" and has promised to hold the newspaper and its allies in the mainstream media accountable for their actions.
The defamation lawsuit was originally filed in a Florida federal court and was struck down in September, but Trump refiled it in October.
Trump has also taken to social media to express his discontent with the Times, calling out the newspaper's coverage of the Iran war as "FAKE & MADE UP" and accusing the authors of a piece of being "criminals" for their "TREASONOUS" coverage of the war.
