A French modeling scout with connections to the former financier Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his Paris apartment, authorities announced. The 69‑year‑old, Daniel Siad, was discovered Monday night, and an autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death.
Siad’s attorney, Menya Arab‑Tigrine, stated that the death was likely due to a heart attack, but noted that the stress and stigma associated with the investigations could have contributed. She emphasized that the autopsy results would clarify whether the heart failure was the sole factor.
Siad’s name appeared in roughly 2,000 entries within the files related to Epstein. Correspondence from the former scout included messages about placing models in Paris and references to individuals from Australia and Croatia.
An earlier email from April 2009 contained photographs of a 17‑year‑old Slovakian girl, allegedly taken while Siad was scouting models in Bratislava.
Following the launch of a human‑trafficking and fraud probe in February, at least 24 women have identified themselves as victims or witnesses of alleged misconduct involving Siad or others connected to him.
Investigators had previously examined Siad but lacked sufficient evidence for immediate arrest. His attorney highlighted that he had never faced prosecution or formal legal charges, and urged respect for the grief of his loved ones during this period.
