Freddy Brazier, a 21‑year‑old student, sustained serious injuries when his pet bulldog, Pablo, attacked him on July 16. The incident left a 3‑centimetre wound on his right arm and required emergency medical attention.
During the attack, Pablo’s jaws clamped onto Freddy’s arm, causing the deep cut. Freddy later described the experience as terrifying, noting numbness in his arm and the sight of blood on his clothing.
Freddy’s grandmother, Jackiey Budden, was also bitten in the same episode. A neighbor called emergency services after witnessing the dog’s aggressive behavior.
Police and the fire brigade responded to the call and assessed the situation. Although the injuries were severe, they decided not to pursue criminal charges against the owner.
Investigators noted that this was not the first time Pablo had bitten someone. A previous incident involved the same dog attacking a neighbour, which had also been handled without legal action.
Several days after the initial attack, the dog again engaged in a violent encounter, this time involving Freddy’s grandmother. The repeated aggression prompted Freddy to return to retrieve the dog, but he was still injured when he sought medical care.
Freddy initially left the emergency department after a brief wait but was forced to return when his injuries could not be ignored. He received further treatment overnight and remained under observation.
Freddy has expressed that Pablo is more than a pet; he describes the dog as a son and is devastated at the prospect of never seeing him again. The dog is currently held in police kennels.
The dog’s removal has created uncertainty for Freddy, who reports that neither his grandmother nor his father will be able to keep Pablo at home.
The incident has also strained personal relationships. Freddy’s former partner, Holly Swinburn, had previously urged him to relinquish the dog during a heated argument, contributing to their breakup.
At present, the status of Pablo remains unresolved, and no further developments have been announced regarding the dog’s future or potential legal proceedings.
