Toronto police arrested a 20-year-old man after he allegedly asked for spare change from officers near Jane St. and Shoreham Dr. in North York last week.
The 31 Division Neighbourhood Community Officer team was on uniform patrol in the area, south of Steeles Ave. W., when they encountered the accused on July 13.
According to police, the accused walked up to the officers in their marked vehicle and asked for 50 cents, then walked to a nearby restaurant before being recognized as someone with outstanding warrants in Toronto.

Officers arrested the accused and located a handgun loaded with 16 rounds, which he had concealed on him.
A search warrant was executed at an apartment in the Jane St. and Driftwood Ave. area, where police allege they found 26 rounds of ammunition, a master vehicle key, and a stolen Ontario licence plate.
The accused, Theron Sutherland, of Toronto, has been charged with several firearm-related offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.
