Disney World guest with heart condition dies after cardiac emergency

Florida officials have confirmed that a 54-year-old Disney World guest died following a cardiac emergency on the "It's a Small World" attraction in Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland on April 2.

The incident was documented in the state's latest quarterly report on theme park injuries and illnesses. The visitor, who has not been publicly identified, was transported to a hospital and later died.

The report indicates the man had a pre-existing medical condition. State records show the ride has operated at Magic Kingdom since 1971 and remains one of the park's most recognized attractions.

The quarterly filing also detailed five additional medical incidents at Disney World this spring. A 75-year-old woman struck her head while exiting Space Mountain in May, and another guest was injured on the Snow Stormers water slide in April.

A 44-year-old man reported back pain after riding Tiana's Bayou Adventure in May. A 74-year-old man with a pre-existing condition experienced nausea and vomiting following a ride on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind that same month.

Serious medical events at major U.S. theme parks are uncommon, though fatalities linked to ride-related emergencies have occurred in previous years.
