The shares of Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corp. experienced a significant surge last week after the company posted a turnaround in its first-half earnings, driven by higher commodity prices and the nearing completion of its mining pit redevelopment program.
Data from the Philippine Stock Exchange showed that Atlas Mining was the 10th most actively traded stock during the week, with 59.04 million shares worth P660.81 million changing hands as of Friday.
Atlas Mining's shares rose 39.4% week on week to P12.20 from P8.75 the previous Friday, outperforming the mining and oil index's 8.3% gain and the Philippine Stock Exchange index's 1.9% decline.
The stock has more than doubled from its 2025 closing price of P6.03, compared with gains of 5.1% for the mining and oil index and 3.8% for the Philippine Stock Exchange index.
Atlas Mining attributed the turnaround primarily to higher production as subsidiary Carmen Copper Corp. continued to expose new ore sources under its mine redevelopment program, which is on track for completion in the third quarter.
The company said higher ore grades offset lower milling throughput, lifting copper metal production by 13% to 31.87 million pounds and gold output by 1% to 7,792 ounces. Copper concentrate production also increased 17% to 76,000 dry metric tons.
Higher commodity prices played a significant role in the company's turnaround, with copper concentrate shipments rising 18% year on year in the first half and the average copper price increasing 38% to $5.97 per pound from $4.32 a year earlier.
Analysts expect the stock to undergo a pullback in the coming trading sessions, with some predicting a period of consolidation after the stock's sharp, multiday rally.
“Investors should be cautious at this point and wait for a pullback before entering,” said one analyst, adding that the stock was trading at “overbought levels” relative to its peers.
Support levels were placed at P10.40 and P11.26, with resistance at P13.90 and P15, while another analyst predicted that the stock could pull back to around P10 and P8.50 before facing resistance at P12.50 and P13.
