The Bureau of Customs has taken a significant step in strengthening international customs cooperation. The agency has signed a joint action plan with the Israel Customs Directorate with the goal of establishing an authorized economic operator (AEO) mutual recognition arrangement (MRA) between the Philippines and Israel.
The joint action plan will serve as the roadmap for the negotiation and implementation of the AEO MRA by outlining the activities, timelines, and responsibilities of both sides. The plan includes technical assessments, validation visits, and information exchanges before finalizing the MRA.
Once in place, the agreement will enable both customs administrations to mutually recognize each other’s AEO programs. This will allow accredited traders to enjoy enhanced trade facilitation benefits.
The partnership is expected to make customs clearance more efficient, reduce unnecessary inspections, strengthen supply chain security, and promote greater trade and investment between the Philippines and Israel.
According to the Bureau of Customs, this initiative will help create more opportunities for Filipino businesses and reinforce the country’s commitment to internationally recognized customs standards.
The partnership also supports the government's efforts to modernize services, strengthen the country's competitiveness, and improve the ease of doing business through efficient and secure trade facilitation.
