The adult son of Amy Fisher, also known as the "Long Island Lolita," and his girlfriend are facing felony animal-cruelty charges in connection with the death of their pet cat, Reaper. Brett Anthony Bellera, 25, and Jennifer Armenti, 36, were charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after investigators concluded that the cat died from "involuntary heat exposure." The potential causes of death included microwave radiation, immersion in extremely hot water, or exposure to hot-water vapor.
The investigation into Reaper's death began on December 15, 2024, when a friend of the couple alerted animal care authorities that the cat had died under potentially unnatural circumstances. Armenti allegedly told investigators that she had found the cat dead on the bathroom floor, but by the time animal care employees arrived, the cat's body was outside on the apartment's back patio. Investigators found the cat inside a plastic laundry basket, with a large amount of blood pooled beneath the body.
Bellera allegedly told investigators that he and Armenti had gone to bed the previous night and discovered the cat dead the following morning. He suggested that Reaper may have accidentally consumed cleaning products, but a forensic necropsy pointed to a more sinister cause of death. A licensed veterinarian concluded that Reaper suffered fatal injuries caused by extreme heat, and microscopic tissue analysis indicated that the exposure did not kill the cat immediately, meaning Reaper endured severe pain before dying.
Bellera and Armenti were arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals. Each posted a $25,000 bond and has pleaded not guilty. Their cases remain active, with both defendants subject to electronic monitoring or house arrest. Bellera is the eldest son of Amy Fisher, who became infamous after shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco, the wife of her adult lover, in 1992.
