A province‑wide online child exploitation investigation has led to the arrest of more than 60 individuals and the filing of 213 charges. The operation, conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police, is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle networks that produce and distribute child sexual abuse material.
The investigation, known as Project Time, was carried out in partnership with 25 Ontario police services. A total of 63 suspects were arrested, including 12 residents of the Greater Toronto Area.
The probe encompassed 264 criminal investigations, of which 154 remain active. Investigators identified 51 victims and seized 814 electronic devices.
Arrested individuals ranged in age from 15 to 79 years. Two were in positions of trust within their communities, and eight had prior convictions related to the same offense. The identities of the Greater Toronto Area suspects have not been released, though all except one woman are adult males aged 26 to 67.
A court‑issued publication ban prevents the disclosure of certain accused individuals' identities.
Det. Staff Sgt. Tara Clark, lead of the Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Strategy, praised the operation as evidence of law‑enforcement dedication and the effectiveness of collaborative efforts. She emphasized that the investigation showcases the strength of the strategy and the relentless pursuit of those who prey on vulnerable children.
The Ontario Provincial Police urge anyone with information about child sexual exploitation to contact local police or report it to the appropriate cyber tip line.
