A wave of terror gripped Baltimore this February, culminating in the tragic death of a local convenience store clerk. The nine-day crime spree allegedly carried out by one man has left a community reeling and a family mourning.
Brian Burrows, 52, now faces the most serious of accusations: first-degree murder. He’s also been charged with a litany of armed robbery and assault offenses, stemming from a series of incidents that began on February 6th and ended with a fatal shooting on February 13th.
The victim, 36-year-old Khaled Saleh Mohamed Alshariki, was working behind the counter when a suspect approached, demanding money. Surveillance footage chillingly captured the moment a gun was drawn and a single, devastating shot was fired.
Police responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m., finding Alshariki with a gunshot wound to the torso. Despite swift transport to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a void in the lives of those who knew him.
Investigators quickly turned to technology, utilizing facial recognition to identify a potential suspect. The results pointed to Burrows, setting in motion a focused investigation that would soon connect him to multiple crimes.
Just two days after the fatal shooting, another armed robbery occurred at a nearby Family Grocery and Tobacco. Witness accounts and additional surveillance footage further solidified the case against Burrows, linking him directly to both robberies and the murder.
On February 19th, detectives executed a warrant at a home in Linden Heights, successfully apprehending Burrows. He was immediately taken into custody and formally charged with the mounting list of offenses.
This isn’t Burrows’ first encounter with the law. Court records reveal a prior armed robbery conviction, resulting in a 20-year prison sentence with 13 years suspended. He had been released on supervised probation, but an outstanding warrant for a probation violation – issued in September 2025 – was already in place at the time of his latest alleged crimes.
Burrows remains in custody without bond, as prosecutors build their case. The weight of 21 charges – including murder, armed robbery, and multiple counts of assault – hangs heavy, while the prior probation violation adds another layer to his legal predicament.
