The Philippine Navy has made a significant seizure of contraband in an anti-smuggling operation off Lutangan Island in Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 1,436 master cases of Indonesian-brand cigarettes, valued at approximately P234.4 million.
The anti-smuggling operation was carried out on July 19, with the Philippine Navy unit seizing the vessel transporting the contraband. The vessel had allegedly departed from Tawi-Tawi and was en route to distribute the smuggled cigarettes to retailers in coastal communities across the Zamboanga Peninsula.
