President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. transferred P3.4 billion in funding for peace, security, and humanitarian projects in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) during a ceremony at Camp Siongco in Maguindanao del Norte on Wednesday.
Regional officials stated that Bangsamoro allocated P2.9 billion from its own budget for public services and community empowerment projects to be implemented by regional agencies.
The funding will support various initiatives, including improving emergency response, expanding education for children orphaned by armed conflict, and financing livelihood and employment initiatives, such as assistance for overseas workers from the region.
Five provinces within BARMM, along with Cotabato City, also received funding for local peace and development projects, with each provincial government receiving P20 million to support special programs.
