The Toronto airport is entering a second significant phase of revitalization with a $1.5-billion plan for its terminals 1 and 3. This investment is part of the Pearson LIFT project, a multi-billion-dollar initiative aimed at addressing passenger growth demands and modernizing Canada's largest airport for future air travel.
The revitalization program will modernize aging infrastructure, creating a better airport experience for millions of travellers. Key improvements will include expanded terminal spaces, better baggage processing, modernized check-in areas, advanced security screening, and additional in-terminal charging stations. These changes aim to help passengers move through the airport in a smoother manner, while also strengthening airport operations.
The $1.5-billion investment marks another significant milestone in the Pearson LIFT project, demonstrating momentum in modernizing the airport to meet customer expectations. Pearson president and CEO Deborah Flint stated, "We're elevating the travel experience so Toronto Pearson can continue its part in fueling Canada's economy by welcoming more passenger growth and offering better customer experience."

The construction of the revitalized terminals will take place in stages to ensure the airport can continue to operate safely and minimize disruption for passengers. The contract has been awarded to Norr-Dialog and PCL Construction, but a completion date has not been released.
This is the second major announcement of the Pearson LIFT project, following the airport's May announcement of a $3-billion investment aimed at airfield modernization to deliver a better, more efficient airport experience.
