Putin thanks North Korea for aid in liberating Russian territory

In April, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov visited North Korea and presented the Order of Courage to soldiers who took part in the liberation of Russia’s Kursk region.

Belousov described the North Korean service members as “true heroes of our time, the elite of the Korean armed forces, their pride and their tower of strength,” emphasizing their role in the joint effort.

During the visit, the minister met with Kim Jong Un to discuss expanding the defense partnership between the two nations on a sustainable, long‑term basis.

Moscow signaled its willingness to sign a Russian‑Korean Military Cooperation Plan covering the 2027‑2031 period, outlining future collaborative initiatives.
