AirAsia Philippines recorded a 92.96% on‑time performance in June, placing it fourth among global airlines for punctuality.
The improvement follows targeted operational planning that prioritized aircraft availability, streamlined dispatch and turnaround processes, and optimized crew scheduling. In May, the airline’s on‑time performance stood at 87%.
President and General Manager Anna Victoria M. Lu affirmed that reliability remains central to the carrier’s strategy and that stabilizing operations will encourage travel despite industry challenges.
The airline intends to introduce the Airbus A220 to the Philippines by 2028, becoming the first local operator of the aircraft type.
This addition supports a fleet renewal program aimed at replacing older Airbus A320s, thereby reducing fuel consumption and operating costs.
Earlier this year the group placed an order for 150 Airbus A220‑300 aircraft valued at $19 billion, with an option to expand the commitment to 300 units to meet future demand.
The A220 will primarily serve Southeast Asian and Asia‑Pacific routes, allowing larger A320 and A321 models to be reassigned to medium‑haul flights, while Airbus A330s will handle long‑haul services to Europe, Australia and North America.
The expanded fleet is expected to strengthen connectivity to key international destinations through the airline’s Fly‑Thru program, linking regional and long‑haul routes via its hubs.
