Chelsea and Italian side Como are nearing a settlement on the summer transfer of defender Trevoh Chalobah after the club presented an enhanced financial package.
The revised proposal includes a fixed payment of €25 million and an additional €5 million in performance‑related add‑ons, creating an overall value close to a guaranteed €30 million.
Chalobah, 27, has expressed a strong desire to join Como, where he would be coached by former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fàbregas and compete in the Champions League.
Chelsea’s defensive line is set to be bolstered by the anticipated arrival of Maxence Lacroix, a development that may increase the club’s willingness to approve Chalobah’s departure.
Negotiations remain active, and the combination of an improved offer and the player’s consent has injected significant momentum into the deal.
Earlier attempts by Como were rebuffed as Chelsea valued the academy graduate higher, but the new structure aligns more closely with the club’s expectations and opens a clear path for further discussion.
For Como, Chalobah represents a strategic signing, offering Premier League experience, physical robustness and the flexibility to operate in a back three or a traditional central‑defensive partnership.
The transfer would also generate a substantial profit for Chelsea, free up space in a crowded defensive roster, and allow the club to reinvest the funds while accommodating Lacroix’s integration.
Although the €30 million fee sits slightly below Chalobah’s perceived market value after consistent performances for both club and country, his contract situation and expressed willingness to move mitigate pricing concerns.
Should the deal be finalized, Como would secure a reliable defender entering his prime, while Chelsea would benefit financially and strategically by reallocating resources toward other priorities.
