The proposed 2027 national budget is expected to contain projects aligned with government priorities and ready for immediate implementation, according to an official statement.
The proposed 2027 National Expenditure Program (NEP) remains under review following a full Cabinet discussion last week, with the review aimed at ensuring the budget follows the President's directive to allocate funds only for programs providing public benefits.
Only projects that align with the government's programs, in accordance with the national plan, and have high public benefit will be included in the proposed expenditures, according to the statement.
The Cabinet has approved the 2027 NEP, but the official amount has yet to be disclosed. The Department of Budget and Management earlier projected the budget could reach a ceiling of P7.2 trillion.
Budget Secretary Kim Robert C. de Leon presented the key features of the 2027 NEP to the President on Friday, which had been submitted earlier that day.
The 2027 spending plan will be submitted to Congress within 30 days after the President's State of the Nation Address on July 27, when lawmakers will begin deliberations on the proposed national budget.
