Resorts World New York City has opened the first floor of its commercial casino, adding 1,400 slot machines within three months of launching as the city’s first full-scale casino with live table games.
The expansion raises the total number of slot machines to 3,900, a move expected to boost gross gaming revenue and increase tax contributions to New York State.
The new gaming area includes a themed section called Dragon Den, featuring 114 Aristocrat games, 48 Dragon Link machines, and progressive jackpots that offer a top prize of $1 million.
“The slot machines have been extremely popular, generating more than $230 million in gross gaming revenue in just eleven weeks,” a senior executive said. “Adding 1,400 new games will allow us to serve more guests and raise additional tax revenue for the state.”
The first-floor reopening builds on the momentum created in April, when the venue became the first casino in the city to offer live dealer table games such as blackjack, craps, baccarat, and roulette after transitioning from a racino that previously operated only slot-style terminals.
Resorts World plans a $5.5 billion redevelopment to transform the site into a fully integrated resort by 2030. The project will feature a 350,000‑square‑foot gaming floor with 6,000 slot machines, 800 live table games, a 7,000‑seat entertainment venue, 2,000 hotel rooms, and more than ten acres of public green space.
Since opening in 2011, the casino has generated close to $1 billion in annual gross gaming revenue and has contributed over $5 billion to New York’s public education system. Additional commitments include $2.5 billion for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and a $2 billion community benefits package.
The Queens property remains the city’s only casino‑hotel, incorporating a 400‑room Hyatt Regency JFK Airport, restaurants, bars, meeting facilities, and entertainment venues. It attracts around five million visitors each year as it moves toward its long‑term integrated resort vision under the Genting Group’s operation.
