The United States has continued its military strikes against Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz, with a new wave of attacks starting on July 15.
For the fifth consecutive day, US forces have targeted Iranian missile and drone sites in and around the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement from the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The second wave of strikes began at 3 pm ET on July 15, with US military forces using Hellfire missiles to disable an oil tanker sailing towards Iran's Kharg Island.
The ship, identified as the M/T Belma, was flying a Curacao flag and had ignored multiple warnings as it attempted to violate the US naval blockade.
US forces disabled the vessel after firing Hellfire missiles into the ship's smokestack, and the ship is no longer transiting to Iran.
The US has resumed its naval blockade against vessels transiting to or from Iranian ports and coastal areas, with CENTCOM reporting that two compliant commercial vessels have been redirected and one non-compliant vessel has been disabled during the first 24 hours of enforcement.
The US military remains vigilant and prepared to ensure full compliance with the blockade, according to CENTCOM.
