Trump Administration Investigates Schools Hiding Student Gender

Fox News Digital is reporting on exclusive news about the Department of Education (DOE) taking strong action against two school districts regarding alleged violations of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This article highlights the investigations being conducted by the DOE on Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Maryland and Ann Arbor Public Schools in Michigan.

The DOE is determined to uphold parents' rights over their children's school records, as demonstrated by their probe into a Maryland family's case where school staff misled the parents about the gender identity of their child without consent. The DOE has instructed the school administrators to provide the parents with the required information, but they refused.

Additionally, the DOE is scrutinizing Ann Arbor Public Schools' policy that enables educators to conceal a student's "transgender status" within a separate records management system. This policy puts the school district at risk of losing federal funding if they fail to justify their policy by August 11, 2026.

When reached out for comment, Anne Arundel County Public Schools and Ann Arbor Public Schools did not respond at the time of publication.
