A shooting at the annual Bite of Seattle food festival left three people dead and four others injured, including a child, on Sunday evening.
The incident occurred at the Seattle Center in Washington state, where the festival was being held. According to eyewitness accounts, multiple people were involved in the shooting, with police saying that two individuals were exchanging gunfire.
Four people were taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released. A two-year-old boy remains hospitalized, and two guns were recovered at the scene.
One person was arrested at the scene and is currently being questioned by police. A second suspect is still on the loose.
The festival, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, features over 300 vendors, beer and wine gardens, cider tastings, local artisans, and musical performers. However, security at the event was reportedly lax, with some attendees expressing concerns about the lack of pat-downs, bag searches, and security personnel on the grounds.
A police press conference was delayed by five hours to allow local dignitaries to attend, but they were ultimately not present.
The police chief was not in town at the time of the shooting and was not available for comment.
