Nearly every night, millions of people struggle to get a good night's sleep due to snoring, congestion, or other respiratory issues. Recently, a simple yet effective solution has gained popularity: nasal strips. After trying these strips myself, I'm pleased to report that they have significantly improved my sleep quality.
The product I've been using is designed with a unique magnetic band that gently pulls outward on adhesive tabs, expanding the nasal valve and making breathing through my nose feel easier. The design is well-thought-out, and the reusable magnetic piece is a convenient feature. I've even started wearing them on runs to see if they'd help me get more air in during harder efforts.
Nasal strips have become trendy among athletes and fitness enthusiasts, and their popularity is part of a broader wave of interest in nasal breathing and breathwork. However, it's essential to separate fact from fiction and understand the science behind these strips.

Research suggests that nasal strips work by widening the nasal valve, making breathing through the nose feel easier. However, self-reported benefits are likely due to a placebo effect, as studies have found no statistically significant difference in VO2 max, heart rate, or perceived exertion between people wearing strips and those who aren't.
On the sleep side, research indicates that external nasal strips do not significantly improve subjective measures of sleep quality and nasal congestion compared with placebo strips. While my personal experience with nasal strips may be anecdotal, it's clear that they have helped me achieve better sleep quality.
I believe these nasal strips have helped me keep my mouth closed at night, which has reduced my snoring. Breathing through my nose certainly feels easier with them on, both at night and during runs, and that alone has been enough to make them a regular part of my routine.

It's essential to note that any benefits I've experienced are likely due to a powerful placebo effect. However, that's not to say that placebo effects are worthless. In fact, they can be a valuable tool in promoting overall health and well-being.
