BDO Ends Bond Offering Ahead of Schedule as Demand Surges

BDO Unibank concluded the public offering of its 1.5‑year ASEAN Sustainability Bonds just one day after the sale opened, citing robust demand from both retail and institutional investors.

The bank ended the offer ahead of the scheduled July 21 deadline, while the issuance, settlement, and listing remain set for July 28. No final issue size was disclosed.

The offering aimed to raise up to P5 billion, marking the second ASEAN Sustainability Bond this year and the sixth overall for the institution. The bonds carry a 6.26% annual coupon, with a minimum investment of P500,000 and additional increments of P100,000.

Net proceeds are intended to finance or refinance eligible assets under the bank’s sustainable‑finance framework, support its lending activities, and diversify funding sources.

ING Bank Manila acted as sole arranger and sustainability coordinator, while BDO and ING served as selling agents and BDO Capital & Investment Corp. provided financial advisory services.

In January, BDO raised P100 billion through a similar 1.5‑year ASEAN Sustainability Bond priced at a 5.7125% coupon. To date, the bank has secured P386.7 billion from five such issuances since January 2022.

At the end of the first quarter, BDO’s attributable net income rose 2.07% year‑on‑year to P20.112 billion. The bank’s shares slipped 0.97% to close at P123 on Monday.
