The campaign's fundraising struggles come as it faces an extraordinary level of Republican spending, with the leading Republican Super PAC having already pledged $44 million against Ossoff. A recent Supreme Court decision has also granted political parties greater leeway in coordinating their spending with individual candidates, a move that has been characterized as a victory for Republicans.
Ossoff's campaign has also been spending millions of dollars on messaging in states beyond Georgia, including early presidential primary states such as Iowa and South Carolina, as well as swing states like Pennsylvania and Michigan.
Some speculate that Ossoff may launch a run for the presidency in 2028, a move that would be abnormal for Democrats in high-profile Senate races.
Despite Ossoff's fundraising struggles, most polls for Georgia's Senate election show him leading his Republican opponent, Rep. Mike Collins.
