The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has partnered with a leading solutions provider to enhance product certifications in the country.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the DTI's Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS) announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the solutions provider to boost standards and technical information exchange, expand testing and conformity assessment capabilities, and explore capacity-building opportunities.
Under the agreement, the BPS will share technical information with the solutions provider on Philippine regulations and safety requirements for electrical and electronic products.
The solutions provider will share its technical expertise and insights into testing procedures and the conformity assessment process, and will also assist in the review and validation of test reports, certificates, and product markings received by the BPS.
The partnership aims to strengthen product safety and quality assurance systems by promoting greater alignment and understanding of international testing and certification, and enhanced knowledge-sharing on conformity assessment, testing methodologies, and certification procedures.
The BPS has already adopted 80 standards from the solutions provider as Philippine National Standards.
