Suspect Jumps from Bridge in Dramatic Attempt to Evade Missouri

A dramatic incident unfolded in Missouri when a 26-year-old man attempted to outrun police by diving headfirst off a bridge. The incident was captured on video released by the local sheriff's office, showing Gavin Thor Lundgren, of Kimberling City, sprinting across a two-lane bridge before launching himself into Table Rock Lake.

Lundgren's actions followed a high-speed chase, which began when deputies attempted to stop him for speeding. According to authorities, Lundgren was traveling at nearly 75 mph in a 45-mph zone, sparking a pursuit that eventually ended with him abandoning his car and diving off the bridge. Three deputies were injured while taking Lundgren into custody.

During the struggle, investigators said Lundgren headbutted two deputies, resulting in facial bruising, cuts to their hands, elbows, and forearms, and abrasions. The deputies suffered minor injuries, but their condition was not life-threatening. Lundgren was arrested and charged with multiple counts, including third-degree assault and resisting arrest.

Lundgren is currently being held in the Stone County Jail without bond. Authorities described the incident as unusual and fortunate, noting that Lundgren survived the fall into the lake. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of law enforcement officers and the risks associated with high-speed chases.
