Year-Old Actress Kaylee Hottle Dies After “Godzilla vs. Kong

Kaylee Hottle, the 19‑year‑old actress who portrayed Jia in the recent Godzilla films, died after a car accident in Maryland.

Hottle, who was deaf, played a teenager living on Skull Island who communicated with King Kong through sign language. Her portrayal earned her recognition for bringing a quiet, powerful presence to the screen.

She was discovered by a casting director after appearing in a commercial, and was selected for the role because she matched the character’s description. The director guided her through the script, and her parents helped translate it for her.
